White Desert – Egypt’s Natural Wonder!
The White Desert is a most outstanding sight and is not to be missed!

Known as El-Sahara el Beida, located approximately 30km North of the Farafra Oasis ( approx 390Km from Cairo) the White Desert National Park was declared a protected area in early 2002.

With a surface area of over 3,000 km², and part of the Great Sahara Desert it’s landscapes are dominated by bright white chalk formations.

These formations are the remains of microscopic marine animals that are said to have been deposited here over 80 million years ago when the area was under water.

When the formations emerged they started to gradually erode and become sculpted, and, over millions of years, they developed into what is now known as the “mushrooms

Let your mind wander and see what you think they look like. Many people have said they resemble animals camels and even human faces.

But whatever you see, or your mind conjures up when you look at them, one thing that will last with you for a lifetime is how outstanding, and peaceful, how beautiful, yet fragile, how spiritual, yet mildly haunting, this area is.

We will escort you by 4 x 4 Jeep to this magnificent natural wonder. The area is mostly flat and easy to walk amongst the mushrooms and the sand is soft underfoot.

The only way to see these fabulous sights to in their full glory is to get amongst them, and we can take you there.

Why not take a 2-night safari and have one night in the Bahariya Oasis and one night camping under the stars in the fantastic White Desert.
